Research Opportunities
Internal Medicine Residents may pursue research in several pathways.
- Within a standard residency track, a resident may choose up to three months of research electives with a faculty mentor in any Division of Internal Medicine. The Program Directors facilitate these efforts at their biannual meetings with housestaff. Research can be performed in the basic or clinical sciences. Residents can join ongoing research or design their own project under the supervision of their research mentor.
- Alternatively, for residents seriously considering a career in research, we offer an Internal Medicine Research Pathway and a Subspecialty Research Pathway in accordance with ABIM guidelines.
- Residents presenting at the Annual South Texas ACP Associates Program 2007
