Fellows and faculty participate in weekly case management conferences that consist of interactive case presentations with faculty, focusing on differential diagnosis and treatment. Also, fellows and faculty participate in weekly conferences that include Journal Club, Research, Board Review, Faculty and Fellow development, HIV resistance, and plate rounds. Faculty present core curriculum lectures weekly including: HIV series, Infectious diseases core series, Antimicrobial Therapies and Resistance, Microbiology, Travel and Tropical Medicine, Quality Improvement/Quality Assessment, Hospital Infection Control and Epidemiology, Immunocompromised Hosts, Hepatitis/Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Infections of the Reproductive Organs, and they also attend a City-wide Infectious Diseases Conference monthly.

First year fellows have a continuity outpatient HIV/ID clinic at the VA and second year fellows progress to a continuity HIV/ID clinic at our teaching hospital.

There are diverse research opportunities and both clinical and laboratory research. Areas of study include fungal infections, HIV/AIDS clinical and immunology, Infection Control/Hospital Epidemiology and MRSA infections.
